Where the Release Date Stands on October 17, 2026

Online: 404 has not launched, and as of October 17, 2026 there is no new date to circle on the calendar. This online: 404 faq answers the questions players are actually asking right now: the Steam store page still reads "Coming soon", October 16 came and went without a download button, and the developer's post from the day after the missed launch says the build is finished on their side and waiting on Steam's approval.

The hold-up is not polish or bugs. One week before launch, Steam told Cornfield Games that the trailer "may contain copyrighted material" and that the game would not be approved until a specific segment was cut; after the cut, review would take another 3–5 business days. The segment was removed and the developer notified Steam. By October 17, more than five business days had passed without a reply, which is why the announcement describes the release as likely to happen "at any moment this weekend, or perhaps on Monday."

DateWhat was announced
April 29, 2026Demo planned for June; Early Access planned for July
June 12, 2026Demo moved two days to June 14 to fix co-op issues
June 28, 2026Early Access moved to September 25, 2026
August 26, 2026Postponed three weeks, to October 16, 2026
October 16, 2026Planned launch day; no release
October 17, 2026"Delayed by a few days"; weekend or Monday possible

Those dates come straight from the Steam news feed for Online: 404, which is the page to watch if you want to catch the release the minute it goes live.

When does Online 404 release?

The last date anyone put in writing is October 16, 2026, in Steam Early Access — not 1.0. That comes from the August 26, 2026 "Release Date Update," which says the launch was postponed by three weeks "so that the new release date is October, the 16th." It is the third date the game has worn: April's plan pointed at the end of July, June 28 moved it to September 25, and August moved it again.

October 16 did not happen. The October 17 post titled "Where is the game?" says the Early Access release "has been delayed by a few days" and "could happen at any moment this weekend, or perhaps on Monday." So the only live answer on the store page is still "Coming soon," and the short version is: October 16 was the plan, it slipped, and no replacement day has been announced. If you want to be there for the actual unlock, the news feed and the Discord are where the team posts first.

Nobody has published an unlock hour. The 20:00 CET number that gets passed around is real, but it belongs to the June 14 demo going live, not to the Early Access build. The online-404.wiki FAQ (last updated September 28, 2026) makes the same point, and it also still lists October 16 as the launch date — something the October 17 announcement has since overtaken.

Here is the picture this online: 404 faq keeps circling back to: the game is done, the store page is frozen on "Coming soon", and Valve's review queue decides when that changes.

Platforms, Languages and Controllers

The Steam store page, checked on October 17, 2026, lists Windows 10 as the minimum operating system and Windows 11 as recommended. Nothing on that page mentions macOS, Linux or a console version, so PC is the only place to play it.

The listed features are single-player, online co-op, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. Co-op supports up to four players according to the April 29, 2026 announcement, and you pick one of four characters, each with different stats and starting gear.

Nine languages, one fully voiced. English is the only entry with full audio; the other eight get translated menus and subtitles. Chinese does not appear on that list.

Gamepads are the one item the store page leaves open. The community FAQ reports full controller support, with no button layout or UI customisation published anywhere. Steam Deck is a bigger question mark — no Valve compatibility rating exists, and demo players reported that the game runs but that typing is painfully slow, which matters when the phone is your main survival tool.

The Demo, the 60,000 Players and the Bug Hunt

The demo was first set for June 12, 2026, slipped two days because co-op mode had technical problems, opened on June 14 at 20:00 CET, and stayed available until the end of that month. More than 60,000 people played it in two weeks, after which it was pulled from public access. If you missed it, there is nothing to download now, and no walkthrough can be checked against a playable build.

During the demo, bug reports went through a tool built into the game and reachable from the pause menu; crashes went to the Discord with your Steam UserID attached. That reporting push turned into a contest, and the promised five key winners became sixteen.

One demo story is worth repeating because it explains the update pace. Over 10 hours, players filed more than 150 reports about a single doorframe. The team had a fix packaged for most of that time but could not ship it, because Steam had frozen their publishing rights while it investigated what looked like an attempt to break into the developer's Steamworks account.

The June 14, 2026 post signs off with "see you in the St.Bunny's Motel" — one of the stops inside the Leminsgale District, the roughly 4-square-kilometer map you will be exploring.

Price, Early Access Content and the Story Question

As of October 17, 2026 the store page carries no price, no package and no pre-order; it says the item is not yet available. The community FAQ reads the store data as not free-to-play, which is the safe assumption.

The only pricing statement from the developer sits in the store page's Early Access note: the game is offered "at a reduced price during Early Access as a thank-you to players," and the price will be reviewed after version 1.0 based on how much content was added. The same section says the team expects to reach the final version "within 6–12 months."

Here is where the two official sources disagree. The store page's Early Access description, as read on October 17, 2026, says the current build holds the first third of the story alongside co-op, gathering, building, crafting, hunting, farming, electricity, vehicle driving, zombies and base raids. The June 28, 2026 announcement promised more, stating the Early Access build would "already include the full story." Both are official, they do not match, and the store page is the newer text — so plan for a partial story and treat a complete one as a bonus.

Two smaller items: the store page discloses that AI is used to voice game characters, and achievements are listed as a feature while the achievement list itself has never been published.

FAQ

Is Online: 404 out yet?

No. On October 17, 2026 the store page still said "Coming soon" and the October 16 launch had already been missed. The developer says the build is ready and that the release will happen as soon as Steam approves it — possibly over that weekend, possibly the following Monday.

How much will it cost?

There is no price as of October 17, 2026, and the store page has no package attached. The developer has said Early Access buyers get a reduced price as a thank-you, and that pricing will be revisited after 1.0.

Will my PC run it?

Minimum is Windows 10, a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12 and 60 GB of storage. That is a demanding floor for a two-person project, so check your card before you get excited.

What is still unknown?

The short version of this online: 404 faq: anything that depends on Steam's approval. That covers the actual release moment, the unlock hour, the price, the 1.0 date and the achievement list. Everything else — platforms, languages, demo history, what ships in the Early Access build — is documented above with the date each answer was last true.
